Mount Merapi is one of the many active mountain in Indonesia. It’s located 30 km from the city, in Kaliurang District. The last big eruption is on 2010 that killed 194 peoples. Before we visit the ruins, I plan to take a tour around Kaliurang.
1. Mountain views post.
You can see the merapi mountain at close range in this post. the views is beautiful and the entrance ticket is only IDR 3.000 / person.

in this view post, there is a really wide park, and usually used for outbound activities for students.
if you feel tired, you can use the gazebo for rest.
let’s change place and go to Japanese cave on top of the hill in Kaliurang.
2. Japanese Caves
At the entrance, welcome to Japanese Cave Nirmolo Kaliurang.
for your information, you have to climbs the hills to arrive at japanese cave. I think we must walk around 2 km.
where is the cave ? not there yet ? Is this truly 2 km ? it’s feel so far.
I climbs the hill with my sister, but she give up on the way. I need to continue this trip alone… It’s really quiet. I hope there’s no wild animals here….
at least, arrived at the cave. It took one hour to climbs the hill. Feel tired~~~
I didn’t know that my sister continue to climb the hill, she arrived around 15 minutes after me. She said, she is afraid to be alone in the middle of the hill. Ha…ha…ha…. (fear beat fatigue)

3. Plawangan Turgo
Welcome to Plawangan, ha…ha…ha…at first i think this place is interesting because there is a waterfall, too bad , theres no water in there…
Ah, I found a wild monkeys.
even though there is nothing in this place, but you can rent a jeep to take a trip around merapi off road. It cost IDR 250.000 / 4 persons. OMG, I need two people that want to go with us. He…he…he…it will help the cost.
after waiting around 30 minutes, we found two foreign tourists that want to share the cost with us. They came from US, I think their name is Sandra & Mia ( If not wrong )
Let’s go ! Merapi Off Road !!! Here is the main course of our trip today. :D

In the eruption there is two people trapped inside this bunker, and they died inside. May their soul rest in peace.
and the last place we visit is the face stone. they said it’s face resembles mbah marijan, the mountain key person who died in the eruption.
